6 HEALTHY SEEDS - I can't live without

I'm totally obsessed with seeds in general, they're often discounted due to their small size, however, there are so many studies showing that these little "superfoods" can have major health benefits and I really recommend incorporating them into your diet.

1. Flax seeds

Flax seeds are an excellent source of fiber, omega 3 fats, lignans and other nutrients . Many trials have shown that they can reduce cholesterol, blood pressure and even the risk of cancer . Since whole flaxseed cannot be fully digested by the body, they must be ground before eating them .

How I eat them: I try to eat them every day, for breakfast, blending them into my smoothies

2. Chia seeds

Despite their small size, chia seeds are full of important nutrients. They are an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids, rich in antioxidants, and provide fiber, iron and calcium .

Facts:

1 - Mixed with water, they can replace the egg in vegan cooking .

2 - Chia seeds can be eaten cooked or raw, but they should be soaked before being eaten .

How I eat them: My favorite ways are making overnight oats, or just mixed with yogurt.

3. Pumpkin seeds

I love everything about pumpkins, including pumpkin seeds. Pumpkin seeds are a small powerhouse of nutrients and health benefits. They are a great source of protein and unsaturated fats, including omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. They also contain a good range of nutrients, including iron, calcium, B2, folate and beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A.

How I eat them: They're great as a breakfast topping or even roasted with spices.

How I eat them: I usually add them as a salad dressing

How I eat them: I usually spread them on my toast with banana slices and almond butter or as a smoothie topping.

The tiny, teardrop-shaped seeds have a nutty, slightly sweet flavor that is enhanced when baked or lightly toasted in a skillet. Sesame seeds are loaded with nutrients and antioxidants that have great health benefits .

How I eat them: I usually sprinkle them on any salad plate to add that crunch or make them into Gomashio (a dry condiment made from sesame seeds and salt - often used in Japanese cooking)
